SCHOOL TALKS
 

It seems every time we turn on the news we hear about another young life being taken because of the gang and drug culture. Our young people are being let down by the government, their family and us in the community.  They feel there is no hope for them and the only way to get noticed is to be part of a gang. And before they know it they start drinking, then taking drugs, and then doing what ever it takes to work their way up in the gang.  This could be selling drugs or carrying a knife or gun. We have seen so many young people in prison because of one moment of madness just to prove themselves, and before they know what they have done someone's son or daughter is dead because of their actions.

We both feel by going into schools and talking to our young people and telling them our story from a victim's side, and the dangers of gangs and what we see in prisons, that somehow we will have an impact on them and hopefully turn their lives around.  We may not be 100% successful in doing this but if we just change one life and stop someone else's child from being murdered then it is well worth all the work we do.
